Lantern House: Our Dream is Bigger Than US - Taiwo Olaleye

On Wednesday 2nd March 2016, Lantern House, the Leadership Academy for Positive Social Change, held its inaugural Distinguished Leadership Lecture where top notch young promising Nigerian Entrepreneurs travelled in from far and near to mentor, motivate and share their zero to hero approach on the possibility of overcoming social inhibitions.
The event, which was well attended, was the threshold of greater intervention programmes that Lantern House had in stock to ensure a positive mental attitude amongst the teeming Nigerian youths in the face of uncontrollable trend of social vices.
Participants and speakers alike eulogised the organizers for coming up with such apt lecture series where graduates, undergraduates, postgraduates and goal-getters gathered to break new frontiers in their career pursuits. At the event, DREAMERS' COLLEGE, a privately owned Secondary School located in Abeokuta, was awarded the Lantern House Prize 2015 for offering free-tuition admission to indigent students in the society.
As part of the effort to encourage good writing skills amongst students, Miss Thomas, an SS2 student of FCE Model Secondary School Abeokuta was likewise presented with a brand new computer laptop for coming out tops in the Essay Competition rolled out by the Leadership Academy. Sponsored by DELUXE & PARTNERS, the Leadership Lecture was an eye-opener to participants who were hearing about LANTERN HOUSE for the first time.
Speaking with youth enthusiasts recently, TAIWO OLALEYE - the Convener of the Academy, reiterated the commitment of the Academy towards meeting the needs of ambitious and diligent young Nigerians in the area of capacity development and monetary grants in order to serve as a guide on their way to career fulfilment. in his words:
"Our vision is to be the first point of call for the vulnerable and less privileged in search of motivation, direction and guidance on matters affecting their lives. We intend to formulate social intervention policies as government think-tank and gives direction as society's lighthouse".
"Our dream is bigger than us really. There would be a spice of Charity in every of our intervention programmes. We believe that only the limit of our mindset would determine the boundary of our future and that is why we are undeterred in the face of economic downturn to bring smile on the faces of different people whose path would cross ours in years to come" he added.
while explaining the rationale behind the forth-coming LANTERN HOUSE MENTORSHIP BANQUET, he asserts that: "So far, close to one hundred and twenty (120) students have registered for the event where the Nigeria CGPA UNILAG Record Breaker, AYODELE DANIEL DADA, would be speaking on Navigating Through Academic Thorns & Turns: My Nothing to Something Approach.
At that event, we would be giving out #10,000.00 each to ten (10) indigent students as our Charity Grant Award just as we hope that the amount would go along way in ameliorating their financial challenge. Other participants at the event would be treated to a sumptuous meal, good music, lot to eat and drink etc in a way to celebrate students who are daily striving to attain lofty academic heights despite daunting challenges."
